Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling

A Quick Fix

If there was a power outage, then you should check the compressor in your Frigidaire refrigerator. If you can hear a low humming coming from the compressor, then it is running. If you can’t hear anything from the compressor, then check for continuity the starter relay on the control board.
Check the relay with a multimeter. If you can’t find outgoing voltage from it, which should be around 120v, then the relay or the board is faulty. You should replace the board or call professionals to do this.
But if the compressor is running, then the next thing to check is the condenser fan. It should be close to the compressor. The fan must be spinning and not obstructed. If it does not, then the fan motor may be faulty. The fan cools the compressor down. Without it, the compressor may overheat and the refrigerator’s cooling effectiveness will be reduced.
You can change the fan yourself by unscrewing the bolts holding it. Install and connect the new motor after that.
If you are not sure what you are doing, then it would be better if you call a professional, especially if you still have a warranty for your refrigerator.

Solutions for Beeping and Not Cooling Frigidaire Refrigerator

Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling Refrigerator Door is not closed

First check if the doors are closing properly. If the doors can not be firmly shut, then the temperature inside would be too high.
Do not put too much things inside, so they won’t block the door. Check the door gaskets for damage. The refrigerator will beep, if you didn’t close the doors.
If the open door alarm keeps beeping, then you can press the alarm reset button. You can find that button on the frontal display of the refrigerator. If you model does not have a screen, then reset it by unplugging it for at least 30 seconds. Plug it back after that.
If the temperature rises over 55 degrees Fahrenheit inside the refrigerator, then the alarm would also start beeping (or if the temperature is over 21 degrees inside the freezer). The temperature alarm may be reset with a reset button too.

Solutions for Not Cooling Frigidaire Refrigerator

Condenser Fan Motor

Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling Fan Not Working

Do not forget to unplug your refrigerator. Check if anything obstructs the condenser fan motor and clean it, if necessary. If the fan is clean, then see if you can rotate it manually.
If the fan does not rotate freely by hand, then the fan motor needs to be replaced. You can also check the motor with a multimeter for continuity.
The compressor won’t work properly, if it’s fan does not work.

Evaporator Fan Motor

Unplug the refrigerator, check the fan for obstruction, clean it. Check if the fan rotates freely by hand. Check the fan motor for continuity with a multimeter.
Replace the motor, if needed. You should hear a humming noise from a working motor.
The evaporator fan draws air for the evaporator coils and circulates it inside the refrigerator. The refrigerator would not cool well enough without the evaporator fan working properly.

Condenser Coils

Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling Check if the condenser coils are clean

Check if the condenser coils are clean. You must clean them accurately, if they are dirty.
The coils dissipate heat and won’t function if they are too dirty.
But there are other components’ which may cause the refrigerator to malfunction:
Thermistor – check with a multimeter, if you know, what you are doing. Every thermistor type has specific readings for a specific temperature.
Start Relay – check if there is a continuity with a multimeter, replace if there is none. The compressor won’t function without the relay working.
Start Capacitor – check with a multimeter, if it can measure the capacitor’s characteristics.
Thermostat – Rotate it to the lowest setting, check with a multimeter for resistance. You should see zero at the multimeter’s display. Replace the thermostat otherwise.

The Freezer Is Cold In My Frigidaire Refrigerator, But The Fridge Section Is Not.

Check the evaporator fan first, check the fan motor. Remove any fan obstruction.
If you can’t rotate the fan freely or there is no continuity between the motor contacts, then replace the fan motor. You should replace it, if it is very noisy too.

New Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling

The refrigerator may still be in demo or store mode. To reset it, press and hold for three seconds the Adjust Freezer and Ice Off buttons.
If it still does not reset, then unplug the refrigerator for three minutes. This is a “hard reset” procedure, it should help you in that case.
Check the temperature settings for the fridge and freezer sections. Let the refrigerator to cool down for 24 to 48 hours. You may also call the Frigidaire service center.

My Frigidaire Mini Fridge Not Cooling

Check if the temperature knob is not broken, then if the temperature settings are fine.
Check the start relay for continuity, replace, if needed. The thermostat must click, if you rotate it. Also might need a replacement, if you it does not click.
A compressor may also be faulty, but it is a rare occurrence. In that case it may be cheaper to find a new refrigerator.

My Frigidaire Refrigerator Compressor Works, But Does Not Cool

Check the condenser and evaporator fans. Check the evaporator coils also.
If there is frost on the coils, then the cooling system won’t function properly. Defrost the refrigerator by unplugging it for several hours.

Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling The fan blades should rotate easily by hand
Clean the fans and check their motors for continuity. The fan blades should rotate easily by hand. Replace the motors, if needed.

My Refrigerator Does Not Cool Well Enough Inside My Garage

It may be too hot inside your garage. Try to move the refrigerator to some other place and see if it works.

Why My Frigidaire Refrigerator Does Not Cool Down, But I Can Hear Clicks From It

If you can hear clicking and the compressor does not run, then check the start relay and start capacitor first.
The compressor may also be overloaded, if the condenser coil is too dirty.
You can check the relay by unplugging it at the compressor side and shaking it. The relay needs replacement, if there is rattle, or there is no continuity between it’s contacts.

Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling Check the start relay
If there is voltage coming out of start relay, then the compressor is faulty and needs replacement.
